My goal in writing this book was to provide all the information needed to find the best stream fishing for both trout and bass throughout Virginia. By working with Virginia's capable fisheries biologist we selected over forty of the best trout streams and nine bass rivers. My son Jeff and I fished these extensively over the past three years. Using the personal information we gained along with the input from state biologist, angling friends and the Virginia Department of Tourism I've provided the information needed for one to find great fishing.---The streams were selected for the quality of fishing they provide, the overall esthetic angling experience and legal access. Accompanying each bass river is a large map showing the access points for launching boats and wading. There is a map showing the locations of all the trout streams and extensive written directions covering the specific roads for easy access.---There are discussions of the angling tactics which are effective on each stream, the similarities and differences between the streams, the best hatches and the most successful fly patterns and the best time to fish them. I've included hatch charts showing the specific insects, their emergence dates and the best flies to match both the adults and the nymphs. Accompanying each stream is information on close by motels, bed and breakfasts and campgrounds.
